One-Patient trial tests keytruda for rare ovarian cancer

NCT ID NCT05368207

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested the drug pembrolizumab (Keytruda) as a follow-up treatment for one patient with a rare type of ovarian cancer called small cell carcinoma of the ovary, hypercalcemic type (SCCOHT). The goal was to see if the drug could help keep the cancer from coming back. Because only one person took part, the results are very limited and cannot be generalized.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Pembrolizumab (Keytruda), a drug that helps the immune system fight cancer

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a treatment option for a rare and aggressive ovarian cancer.

What could go wrong

This is a single-patient study with no control group, so results may not apply to others. The drug may not prevent cancer from returning and can cause immune-related side effects.
