New hope for kids with aggressive brain cancers: early trial tests immune therapy

NCT ID NCT02359565

Summary

This early-stage trial is testing the safety and early effectiveness of a drug called pembrolizumab in children with aggressive brain tumors that have come back or stopped responding to standard treatments. The drug is an immunotherapy, which aims to help the body's own immune system fight the cancer. The study involves children and young adults with specific types of recurrent brain tumors, including DIPG, high-grade gliomas, ependymoma, and medulloblastoma.
