Summary
This study tests a program where trained peers use motivational interviewing to encourage people who use drugs to check their drugs for dangerous substances and adopt safer use behaviors. The goal is to reduce fatal and non-fatal overdoses, as well as HIV and hepatitis C infections. About 588 adults in San Diego County who use opioids or methamphetamine will take part.
