This study tests whether a team of specialists working together can improve outcomes for frail Veterans having elective surgery. About 35,000 Veterans at three VA hospitals will be randomly assigned to usual care or a multidisciplinary board that reviews each case and makes personalized recommendations. The main goal is to see if this approach lowers the risk of death within 180 days after surgery.
