Brain implants for Parkinson's: do they change how we see emotions?

NCT ID NCT06899022

Summary

This study aims to understand how deep brain stimulation (DBS) treatment affects attention, eye movement, and emotion perception in people with Parkinson's disease and essential tremor. Researchers will track eye movements while participants view facial expressions before, during, and after DBS surgery, comparing them to healthy individuals. The goal is to learn whether DBS improves or worsens attention and social perception, potentially guiding better treatment approaches.
