Mind over movement: new therapy may help Parkinson's patients regain balance

NCT ID NCT06154356

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Aug 06, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding action observation (watching movements) and motor imagery (imagining movements) to standard physical therapy can improve balance, daily function, and quality of life for people with Parkinson's disease. About 54 participants with mild to moderate Parkinson's will be randomly assigned to receive either standard rehab alone or standard rehab plus these mental training techniques. The goal is to see if these simple, drug-free methods provide extra benefits for movement and well-being.
