Surgery vs. watchful waiting: new trial for Post-Transplant bone health

NCT ID NCT07415421

First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at whether removing part of the parathyroid gland can improve bone density, physical function, and quality of life in kidney transplant recipients who still have high calcium or low phosphate levels. About 85 adults who had a kidney transplant at least 6 months ago will be randomly assigned to either surgery or standard monitoring. The goal is to see if surgery offers clear benefits over just watching and waiting.
