Heavy Warm-Up may help you squat more reps

NCT ID NCT06825065

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether doing a few heavy squats before a workout can help you do more reps and lift more total weight. Nine strength-trained men did two different warm-ups on separate days: one with heavy weight and a long rest, and one with lighter weight and a short rest. Then they did three sets of half-squats until they couldn't do another rep. The goal was to see if the heavy warm-up improved performance.
