Could a single palliative care visit improve life for bone metastasis patients?

NCT ID NCT06805396

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether offering a palliative care consultation early—when patients with advanced cancer and bone metastases start radiotherapy—improves their satisfaction with care and quality of life. About 246 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either a tailored palliative care consult within two weeks or standard care. The goal is to see if early, integrated palliative care helps manage symptoms and emotional distress better than waiting until later.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
palliative care consultation
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that early palliative care consults improve patient satisfaction and quality of life for people with bone metastases.
What could go wrong
This is a moderate-sized Phase 2 trial, so results may not apply to all patients. The intervention is a single consult, which may not be enough to change outcomes.
