Nerve block vs IV drip: the battle for better pain relief after surgery

NCT ID NCT06289790

Summary

This study aimed to find the best way to manage pain after a type of minimally invasive lung surgery called VATS. Researchers compared two methods: a single ultrasound-guided nerve block injection in the back versus a continuous intravenous (IV) lidocaine drip. They measured which method resulted in lower pain scores and reduced the need for strong opioid painkillers after surgery.
