First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding dexamethasone or magnesium sulfate to a standard numbing drug (bupivacaine) could provide longer pain relief after total hip replacement. 66 adults received an ultrasound-guided nerve block before surgery. The main goal was to see how long it took before patients needed additional pain medicine. The study also tracked total opioid use and pain scores over 24 hours.
