Silent suffering? new device aims to detect pain in sedated kids

NCT ID NCT04913038

Summary

This study tested a medical device called the ANI monitor to see if it could accurately measure pain in sedated and ventilated children in the pediatric intensive care unit. Researchers enrolled 50 children to see if the device's readings matched up with standard behavioral pain assessments. The goal was to validate a new, objective tool to help caregivers better understand and manage pain in children who cannot communicate.
