First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 26, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests two different medicines (dexmedetomidine and low-dose ketamine) to see which one works better for pain control during and after weight-loss surgery. The goal is to reduce the need for strong opioid painkillers like morphine. 90 adults having bariatric surgery will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two drugs or a placebo, and their pain levels and morphine use will be tracked for 24 hours after surgery.
