New pain block tested to cut opioid use after surgery

NCT ID NCT07164664

Summary

This study is testing which of two pain control methods works better for patients having their gallbladder removed through keyhole surgery. It compares a newer nerve-blocking injection (external oblique intercostal block) with the standard method of numbing the small incision sites. The goal is to see which one provides better pain relief and reduces the need for strong opioid painkillers during the first day after the operation.
