Back surgery pain relief showdown: which nerve block works best?
NCT ID NCT07166250
Summary
This study compares two different nerve-blocking techniques used to manage pain after surgery for a slipped disc in the lower back. Researchers are testing which method—a quadratus lumborum block or a retrolaminar block—provides better pain control and reduces the need for strong painkillers like opioids. The trial involves 84 adults having planned back surgery to see which approach leads to less pain and higher patient satisfaction in the first day after the operation.
