First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This research aims to understand why people with multiple long-term health problems, like kidney or lung disease, are more likely to suffer organ damage after heart surgery. The team will analyze existing data and heart tissue samples from over 3,000 patients to study how aging-related changes in heart cells increase risk. The goal is to identify potential drugs that could protect organs during surgery, but this study does not test any new treatments directly.
