Mouth vs. labia: which graft works best for female urethral repair?

NCT ID NCT07153861

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study compares two surgical techniques for treating a narrowed urethra in women: using a graft from the mouth or from the labia. Forty women with non-traumatic urethral stricture will be randomly assigned to one of the two procedures. The main goal is to see which graft leads to better urine flow after surgery.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

oral mucosal graft and labial graft (surgical grafts)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show which graft type works better for treating female urethral stricture, potentially improving surgical outcomes.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. Surgery always carries risks like infection or bleeding.
