Summary

This study compared whether taking methadone as a pill before surgery works as well as getting it through an IV drip during surgery for managing pain after heart operations. It involved 41 patients having scheduled heart surgery. Researchers measured pain levels and how much additional opioid pain medicine patients needed in the days following their procedure.
