Could a weekly dental clean stop cancer Patients' agonizing mouth sores?
NCT ID NCT03843554
Summary
This study tested whether a special weekly dental cleaning and gum treatment could reduce severe mouth sores in people receiving radiation or chemotherapy for head and neck cancer. About 60 participants were randomly assigned to receive either this special cleaning protocol or standard oral hygiene instructions. The goal was to see if the more intensive cleaning could make cancer treatment more tolerable by preventing painful sores that make eating and drinking difficult.
