NCT ID NCT06062992

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at how many tissue samples are needed when doing a special type of breast biopsy called contrast-enhanced stereotactic biopsy (CESB). The biopsy is used for breast lesions that only show up on contrast-enhanced mammography. Researchers studied 77 women to find the minimum number of samples needed for a reliable diagnosis, while also tracking complications and patient comfort.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Contrast Enhanced Stereotactic Biopsy (diagnostic test)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could establish a standard for how many biopsy samples are needed, reducing unnecessary procedures while ensuring accurate diagnosis.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study (77 participants) focused on procedure optimization, not a new treatment. Results may not apply to all patients or settings.
