Stool test positive, colonoscopy clear: what next? landmark trial seeks answer

NCT ID NCT07470658

First seen Mar 14, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at people aged 45-74 who had a positive fecal immunochemical test (FIT) but a normal colonoscopy. Even with a clear colonoscopy, these individuals may still have a higher risk of colorectal cancer later. The trial compares two follow-up strategies after two years: repeating the stool test or doing another colonoscopy, to see which is better at detecting advanced growths or cancer.
