Can eye scans predict brain fog after surgery?

NCT ID NCT07264764

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at 50 adults having laparoscopic abdominal surgery to see if changes in the optic nerve sheath (the lining around the nerve connecting the eye to the brain) and brain oxygen levels could predict short-term memory or thinking problems after surgery. Researchers measured these using ultrasound and a forehead sensor. The goal was to better understand how the surgery's effects on pressure inside the belly might affect the brain.
