Cancer breathlessness breakthrough? opioid study aims to ease suffering

NCT ID NCT04188418

Summary

This study is testing if fast-acting opioid medications, normally used for pain, can help control the distressing shortness of breath cancer patients feel during physical activity. It will compare two opioids (fentanyl and morphine) against a placebo in 150 patients. The main goal is to see if taking the medication before activity makes breathing easier and allows patients to walk farther.
