Smart lockbox aims to curb opioid risks after surgery

Summary
This study is testing a new device designed to help patients use opioid pain medications more safely after back surgery. Thirty patients having spine procedures will be randomly assigned to receive either standard pill bottles or a smart dispenser that requires app access and pain reporting before releasing medication. Researchers will track pain levels, opioid use, and patient satisfaction for two weeks to see if the device helps manage pain while reducing medication risks.
