First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tested a new, less invasive technique called the Open Membrane Technique (OMT) for rebuilding bone and gum tissue in the lower jaw. Sixteen healthy adults with bone loss received a special membrane and bone graft material, and the wound was left open to heal. After six weeks, the membrane was removed, and measurements showed gains in both bone thickness and gum tissue, with no serious complications.
