Eye test may spot brain fog after major heart surgery

NCT ID NCT07452367

First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a simple, painless eye ultrasound can help predict memory and thinking problems after a complex heart surgery called Bentall. About 100 adults having this surgery will have their optic nerve sheath diameter measured before, during, and after the operation. Their thinking skills will be tested with a short questionnaire before and after surgery to see if the eye measurements relate to any cognitive changes.
