Summary

This trial tests an online program called Healthy Families Bright Futures for LGBTQ+ teens and their caregivers. The program runs for seven weeks with separate weekly group sessions for teens and adults, focusing on LGBTQ+ acceptance, communication skills, and family problem solving. Researchers want to see if the program is practical and well received, and whether it helps reduce teens' alcohol use and dating violence while improving family support.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Healthy Families Bright Futures Program, a seven-week online group program with separate sessions for teens and caregivers
What this could lead to
If it works, this program could give families a practical tool to help LGBTQ+ teens avoid alcohol misuse and dating violence.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-stage study, so the program may not show clear benefits or may not work for all families. Participation requires a caregiver, which could limit who can take part.
