Lung cancer treatment slashed from weeks to hours in new trial
NCT ID NCT06236516
First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested a new, faster way to give radiation therapy for small lung tumors. Instead of the usual two to three weeks of planning and multiple visits, the goal was to complete the entire treatment in just one day. Ten patients with early-stage lung cancer or limited lung metastases were treated using a special CT-guided machine that adapts the radiation plan in real time. The main goal was to see if this one-day workflow was feasible and could be done successfully.
