Hands-On therapy targets legs and feet to ease back pain
NCT ID NCT07193212
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This pilot study tests whether osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) — a hands-on therapy using gentle pressure and stretching — can improve chronic low back pain by also treating the legs and feet. Twenty adults with chronic low back pain will receive four OMT sessions over 5-7 weeks. Researchers will measure muscle stiffness, walking patterns, and pain-related surveys to see if this approach helps.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)
What this could lead to
If this works, it could point toward a drug-free way to reduce chronic low back pain and improve daily function.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study with only 20 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It is early research, not a proven treatment.
