NCT ID NCT02564848

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study looks at whether women aged 65 and older with early-stage, estrogen-positive breast cancer can safely skip a sentinel node biopsy (a procedure to check if cancer has spread to lymph nodes) during their lumpectomy. The goal is to see if omitting this step leads to similar cancer recurrence and survival rates. The study involves 200 participants and follows them over time to monitor for any return of cancer in the lymph nodes or elsewhere.
