Ofev under the microscope: Real-World safety data for lung disease patients

NCT ID NCT04559581

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study monitored 425 Japanese patients with chronic fibrosing interstitial lung diseases that are getting worse over time (PF-ILD) who were prescribed Ofev capsules. Researchers tracked side effects, especially liver problems, to see how safe the drug is in everyday use. The goal was to gather real-world safety information, not to test if the drug works.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Nintedanib (Ofev)

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could confirm that Ofev is safe and tolerable for Japanese patients with PF-ILD, supporting its continued use to slow lung damage.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a controlled trial, so it cannot prove effectiveness. Side effects like liver problems may still occur.
