Eye scans may predict brain decline in heart patients
NCT ID NCT07607756
First seen May 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a quick, painless eye scan can help detect early memory and thinking problems in people with atrial fibrillation (AF), a common heart rhythm disorder. Researchers will compare eye images from 40 AF patients with and without mild cognitive impairment to see if changes in tiny blood vessels in the retina match brain changes. The goal is to find a simple, non-invasive way to screen for cognitive decline in this high-risk group.
