Scientists probe brain Chemical's link to obesity and diabetes

NCT ID NCT01982019

Summary

This study aimed to understand the role of a brain chemical called 26RFa, which is linked to hunger, in obesity and type 2 diabetes. Researchers measured levels of this hormone in 62 obese women (some with diabetes, some without) before and after weight-loss surgery, and compared them to healthy-weight women. The goal was to see how weight loss from surgery affects this hormone and its connection to blood sugar control.
