Talking it out: could a communication class ease parental anxiety?

NCT ID NCT06943105

First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a 6-week group class on nonviolent communication (NVC) can improve mental well-being in parents of primary-school children. About 172 parents with mild to severe anxiety or depression symptoms will be randomly assigned to take the class right away or wait. The goal is to see if learning to express feelings and needs more clearly reduces stress, anxiety, and depression.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) training
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to help parents feel less stressed and anxious.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 172 participants, so results may not apply to all parents. The training is short (6 weeks) and effects may fade over time.
