New feeding strategy aims to cut infections and speed recovery for critically ill surgery patients
NCT ID NCT05127109
Summary
This study is testing a structured plan for delivering nutrition to patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) after major abdominal surgery or trauma. The goal is to see if this careful feeding approach, which uses a device to measure calorie needs and includes tube feeding and supplements, helps reduce hospital-acquired infections and improves recovery. Researchers will compare outcomes for 300 patients on this plan to a similar group of past patients who received standard care.
