New drug NTB003 aims to reduce bulging eyes in thyroid disease

NCT ID NCT07462130

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-stage trial tests a new drug called NTB003 in 74 people with thyroid eye disease, a condition that can cause bulging eyes and inflammation. Participants receive injections of NTB003 or a placebo every 4 weeks. The study measures whether the drug reduces eye bulging and quiets disease activity. Because it is a Phase 1b/2 trial, the main goals are safety and finding the right dose, so it is too early to know if NTB003 will become a standard treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

NTB003 (a drug given by injection under the skin every 4 weeks)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a new treatment option to reduce eye bulging and inflammation in people with thyroid eye disease.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial (Phase 1b/2) with only 74 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug's safety and effectiveness are still unproven, and side effects are possible.
