Could a cocktail of leucine, sildenafil, and metformin tame hypertension?
NCT ID NCT07647003
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This Phase 2 trial tests whether a fixed-dose combination of leucine, sildenafil, and metformin (NS-0200) can lower blood pressure in adults aged 18 to 75 with hypertension. About 150 participants receive one of two doses of the combination or a placebo for 12 weeks. The main goal is to see if the treatment reduces systolic blood pressure more than placebo.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NS-0200 (a combination of leucine, sildenafil, and metformin)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new oral treatment option for managing high blood pressure.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 2 study with a small number of participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The combination therapy may cause side effects or prove no better than placebo.
