First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new cream made with ceramide, coconut oil, and cholesterol to see if it improves skin hydration, redness, and itch in people with mild skin barrier problems like eczema, psoriasis, or dry skin. 26 adults will apply either the new cream or plain petrolatum twice daily for 28 days. Researchers will measure skin moisture, oil, and redness at weekly checkups.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Novel barrier repair cream (ceramide, virgin coconut oil, cholesterol)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a new option for managing dry, itchy skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small pilot study with only 26 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It's too early to know if the new cream is better than standard petrolatum.
