Heart alert study pulled before it began
NCT ID NCT05394181
First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study aimed to see if notifying patients and their primary care doctors about calcium buildup in heart arteries (found on a prior chest CT) would increase the number of people starting cholesterol-lowering statins. It planned to include adults aged 18-84 with moderate to severe calcium but no prior heart disease. The study was withdrawn before enrolling anyone, so no results are available.
