First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study aims to find a noninvasive way to detect changes in lung blood vessels in people with a type of pulmonary hypertension (Group 3 PH) caused by lung diseases like COPD or interstitial lung disease. Researchers will use a special MRI technique (hyperpolarized 129Xe MRI) to create a signature of these changes, which will be compared to actual lung tissue from patients receiving a lung transplant. The goal is to better identify which patients might respond to specific PH treatments, paving the way for more personalized care.
