Finger scanner aims to spot heart valve disease without needles
NCT ID NCT07350629
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This observational study is testing whether a noninvasive finger imaging device can detect and evaluate two types of heart valve disease: aortic regurgitation and aortic stenosis. Researchers will record arterial waveforms from participants' fingers and see if the patterns can distinguish between healthy people and those with valve problems. The study plans to enroll 15 adults, including healthy volunteers and patients with diagnosed valve disease.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple, noninvasive way to screen for certain heart valve diseases without needles or radiation.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early observational study with only 15 people. It is testing a new method, not a treatment, so it may not prove accurate enough for real-world use.
