Skipping bandage changes after surgery? large study says It's just as safe

NCT ID NCT06263205

Summary

This study tested whether leaving a surgical wound uncovered after the first two days is as safe as changing the bandage every two days. Over 1,100 patients who had surgery for gastrointestinal cancer were randomly assigned to either skip dressing changes or get routine changes. Researchers compared infection rates, pain levels, and costs to see if the simpler approach works just as well.
