New hope for dialysis patients who can't use standard blood thinners

NCT ID NCT06150742

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a drug called Niyad as a blood thinner for people with acute kidney injury who need continuous dialysis but cannot use the standard drug heparin or are at high risk for bleeding. About 70 participants will receive either Niyad or a placebo to see if it safely prevents blood clots in the dialysis filter. The goal is to keep the dialysis machine working effectively without causing dangerous bleeding.
