Immunotherapy plus chemo shows promise for tough hodgkin lymphoma
NCT ID NCT03033914
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding the immunotherapy drug nivolumab to standard chemotherapy (ABVD) can improve cure rates for people with high-risk Hodgkin lymphoma. About 82 participants with untreated stage III or IV disease are enrolled. The Phase I part checks safety and side effects, while Phase II looks at how well the treatment controls the cancer over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- nivolumab (a drug that helps the immune system fight cancer) combined with chemotherapy drugs (doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, dacarbazine)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could improve the chance of curing high-risk Hodgkin lymphoma and reduce the risk of the cancer coming back.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-phase trial (Phase I/II) with a small number of participants, so results may not apply to everyone. There are risks of side effects from both the chemotherapy and nivolumab, including immune-related reactions.
