First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving nitric oxide gas during surgery could lower the chance of acute kidney injury in people having emergency repair of a torn aorta (type A aortic dissection). 106 adults took part. The main goal was to see if fewer patients developed kidney problems within 48 hours after surgery. The approach is a potential way to protect the kidneys during a high-risk operation.
