Gas test to shield vessels in risky heart ops

NCT ID NCT03748082

Summary

This was an add-on study to a larger trial testing if breathing nitric oxide gas during and after heart surgery helps protect patients' blood vessels. It focused on patients with existing blood vessel problems who were having long surgeries using a heart-lung machine. The goal was to see if the gas could prevent damage when red blood cells break down during the procedure.
