First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how different ways of providing physical therapy in the NICU affect preterm infants born before 29 weeks. Researchers will compare standard care with more immersive therapy models to see which helps improve infants' motor skills and reduces parent stress. About 150 infants and their mothers will take part, with outcomes measured through therapy visits, parent interactions, and motor skill tests.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help identify the best way to deliver physical therapy in the NICU, improving motor skills for preterm infants and reducing parent stress.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage observational study with only 150 participants, so results may not apply to all NICU settings. It measures outcomes like therapy visits and parent interactions, not long-term health benefits.
