NCT ID NCT06127277
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a mobile app called Next4You designed for teens aged 16-19 in California's foster care system. The app offers short lessons on communication, relationships, sexual health, and wellness over four weeks. Researchers want to see if it helps teens avoid unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections by promoting abstinence or condom use. About 500 youth are taking part.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Next4You mobile app (behavioral intervention)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide an effective, scalable way to reduce unintended pregnancy and STIs among youth in foster care.
What could go wrong
This is a single study in California with 500 participants, so results may not apply everywhere. The program is short (4 weeks) and relies on self-reported behavior, which can be unreliable.
