New X-Ray tech aims to cut radiation risk in gut procedures

NCT ID NCT07594132

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a newer type of X-ray machine (fluoroscopy system) can reduce radiation exposure during endoscopic procedures compared to the standard machine. About 108 patients and staff will be randomly assigned to one of the two systems. The main goal is to measure radiation scatter and patient exposure, aiming to make these common procedures safer.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Next generation fluoroscopy system
What this could lead to
If it works, this could lead to safer endoscopic procedures with less radiation exposure for patients and staff.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial focused on measuring radiation levels, not on curing a disease. The new system may not significantly reduce exposure or may have other limitations.
