Early screening and care for sickle cell in newborns could save lives

Summary

This study will test 120 babies in Côte d'Ivoire for sickle cell disease using a simple point-of-care test. Babies who test positive will start comprehensive care early, including medicines and vaccines. Researchers want to see if this approach reduces serious health problems and deaths compared to usual care.
